⚠️ For very large point cloud files, loading performance can be improved by accepting the recommended level of detail when prompted, or by downsampling the dataset before importing it into PointBase.
STEP 2: Align the point cloud
STEP 3: Cleaning the point cloud (Optional)
🔍 Notes
Refer to the Classification section for additional guidance.
Classification / Cleaning is not required for 2D floorplan or 3D wall extraction.
STEP 4: Estimating Normals if not present.
🔍 Notes
If the point cloud contains normals, they will be loaded into the project automatically.
Normals are required to use Normal Shading or X-Ray modes.
The Has Normals status can be found in the View Panel at the bottom of the interface.
STEP 5: Partitioning the point cloud using Cuboids
💡 Tips:
Points contained within each cuboid can be edited individually by selecting the cuboid in the Project Tree and choosing Edit Points.
STEP 6: Creating Spaces from Cuboids
🔍 Notes
All drafting and geometry-related operations are performed within Spaces.
To create a space, right-click any cuboid in the Project Tree and select Create Space.
Once the space is created, right-click it in the Project Tree and select Edit.
STEP 7: 2D Floorplan and 3D Walls
💡 Tips:
Right-clicking anywhere in the viewport during drafting provides access to all available tools.
Classification is not required for 2D floorplan or 3D wall extraction and can be performed before or after as desired.
